The 5 Ingredient Garlic Parmesan Pasta Recipe is a quick and creamy dish made with pasta, garlic, butter, Parmesan cheese, and reserved pasta water. This simple recipe delivers rich flavor and a smooth sauce perfect for an easy weeknight meal.


Ingredients

8 oz pasta penne, spaghetti, fettuccine, or your choice

4 cloves garlic minced

4 tbsp unsalted butter

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup reserved pasta water


Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
  • Before draining, reserve 1 cup of pasta water and then drain the pasta.

Step 2: Sauté the Garlic

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant.

Step 3: Make the Sauce

  • Pour in ½ cup of the reserved pasta water and stir.
  • Reduce the heat to low and add the Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until melted and smooth.

Step 4: Toss the Pasta

  • Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss to coat it evenly in the sauce.
  • If needed, add more reserved pasta water until you reach the desired consistency.
  • Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

 

  • Divide the pasta into serving bowls.
  • Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese or fresh parsley if desired.
  • Serve immediately.
