Ingredients
6 slices bacon
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup bourbon
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
Cook the bacon in a saucepan over medium heat until crispy.
Remove bacon, crumble it, and set aside.
In the same saucepan, sauté the onion in the bacon fat until soft.
Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Stir in the ketchup, bourbon, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar.
Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and smoked paprika.
Return the crumbled bacon to the saucepan.
Simmer on low heat for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Let cool slightly before using.
