Dirty Cabbage With Smoked Turkey Sausages Recipe is a bold, comforting skillet meal made with tender green cabbage, smoked turkey sausage, ground beef, bell peppers, onions, and Cajun seasoning, creating a savory, smoky, and satisfying one-pan dish perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
1 medium head of green cabbage, cleaned and cut into large triangular pieces
1 lb smoked turkey sausage, sliced into rounds
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (or to taste)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking oil
Instructions
Prepare the ingredients. Clean the cabbage and cut it into large triangular wedges, then slice each piece down the middle. Chop the onions and bell peppers. Slice the smoked turkey sausage into rounds.
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and sauté until browned on both sides. Remove the sausage from the pan and set it aside.
Add the ground beef to the same pan. Season it with some of the Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook until browned and crumbly. Drain excess grease if needed, then remove the beef and set it aside with the sausage.
Add the cabbage to the pan, followed by the chopped onions and bell peppers. Sprinkle the remaining seasoning over the vegetables. Stir well to coat everything in the spices.
Cover the pan and cook on medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender but still has a little bite.
Add the cooked sausage and ground beef back to the pan. Stir everything together and cook uncovered for 5 more minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
Serve hot. This dish is delicious on its own or served with cornbread or rice.
