Description

Cheesy Lasagna Style Tortellini Recipe features tender cheese-filled tortellini tossed with seasoned ground beef, turkey sausage, rich spaghetti sauce, heavy cream, cottage cheese, mozzarella, and parmesan for a creamy, hearty pasta dish.


Ingredients

• 1 lb turkey Italian sausage (or your preferred sausage)

• 1 lb ground beef

• 1 tablespoon olive oil

• ½ yellow onion, diced

• 1 tablespoon garlic, minced

• 24 oz spaghetti sauce

• 12 oz cheese tortellini, cooked and drained

• ½ cup heavy cream

• 16 oz cottage cheese

• ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese, plus extra for topping

• ½ cup grated parmesan cheese, plus extra for topping

• 1 tablespoon onion powder

• 1 tablespoon garlic powder

• ½ tablespoon Italian seasoning

• Salt and black pepper, to taste


Instructions

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the turkey Italian sausage and ground beef, breaking them up as they cook. Once browned, drain any excess grease.

Push the cooked meat to one side of the skillet. Add the olive oil and the diced onion to the empty side. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the onion has softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Mix the onions, garlic, and meat together in the skillet. Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in the spaghetti sauce and heavy cream until well combined.

Add the cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, and mozzarella cheese to the skillet. Stir until everything is creamy and well blended.

Gently fold the cooked and drained tortellini into the sauce mixture. Mix until the pasta is well coated.

Sprinkle extra mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top. Cover the skillet for a few minutes so the cheese melts. Serve hot.
