Ingredients
8 beef hot dogs
8 hot dog buns
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Chopped onions for topping (optional)
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add onions and cook until soft.
Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
Pour in tomato sauce and stir to combine.
Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, cayenne, and brown sugar.
Reduce heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes until thickened.
Meanwhile, cook hot dogs by grilling, boiling, or pan-searing.
Place each hot dog in a bun and spoon chili generously over the top.
Add shredded cheddar cheese and chopped onions if desired.
