Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef (90% lean preferred)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup diced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups marinara sauce
2 cups water or beef broth
2 cups medium pasta shells, uncooked
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Cook the Aromatics: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
Add Pasta and Sauce: Stir in the marinara sauce, water (or broth), and uncooked pasta shells. Mix well to combine.
Simmer: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer uncovered for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
Make It Creamy: Lower heat and stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Cook for 2–3 minutes until sauce is smooth and creamy.
Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
