Description
Crockpot Cabbage Roll Casserole Recipe is a hearty slow cooker dish made with chopped cabbage, ground beef or turkey, rice, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic, onion, and savory herbs for a comforting, flavorful family meal.
Ingredients
1 large head of cabbage, chopped
1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
1 cup uncooked rice
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 cup shredded cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions
Brown the Meat. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until no longer pink. Drain off any excess fat and set aside.
Sauté Aromatics. Using the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fragrant and translucent.
Combine the Filling. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat, sautéed onion and garlic, uncooked rice, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is evenly mixed.
Layer in the Crockpot. Spread half of the chopped cabbage in the bottom of your slow cooker. Spoon half of the meat and rice mixture over the top. Repeat the layers with the remaining cabbage and meat mixture.
Slow Cook. Cover and cook on Low for 6–8 hours or High for 3–4 hours, until the cabbage is tender and the rice is fully cooked.
