Ingredients

For the Base

1 lb ground beef or thinly sliced steak for a traditional cheesesteak twist

4 cups diced potatoes Yukon Gold recommended

1 medium onion chopped

For the Sauce

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt & pepper to taste

Cheese Topping

2 cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese

Optional: sliced green onions for garnish

Substitutions

Ground beef → Shredded chicken or ground turkey

Cheese → Use vegan mozzarella for a dairy-free option

Potatoes → Try sweet potatoes for a different flavor profile


Instructions

  1. Peel and dice the potatoes into ½-inch chunks.
  2. Chop the onion.
  3. Shred cheese if using a block (recommended).
  4. Cooking Steps
  5. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  6. Layer potatoes, onions, and cooked beef in the crockpot in that order.
  7. In a bowl, mix beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  8. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the layered ingredients.

Cover and cook:
