Ingredients
For the Meat Sauce:
2 lbs ground chuck
1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
1 can crushed tomatoes (14.5 oz)
2 cans tomato sauce (15 oz each)
3 tablespoons olive oil
5 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1 large onion (or 2 medium), diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
2 tablespoons minced parsley
1 teaspoon dried sweet basil
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
For the Pasta:
1 lb spaghetti
1 tablespoon olive oil (for boiling water)
Optional Ingredients:
Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Shredded mozzarella cheese, for serving
Instructions
In an extra-large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and green peppers, and cook for 5–7 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook until lightly browned.
Add the ground chuck and cook until fully browned. Drain excess grease.
Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, basil, Italian seasoning, oregano, salt, and black pepper until well mixed.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and diced tomatoes. Stir well. Add the tomato sauce last and stir again. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 1 hour uncovered, stirring occasionally.
While the sauce simmers, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the spaghetti. Cook for 7–8 minutes until al dente. Drain well.
Mix the cooked spaghetti with the meat sauce or serve the sauce over the noodles. Garnish with extra parsley or optional grated Parmesan or shredded mozzarella cheese if desired.
