Ingredients
1 cup warm water
2 tsp dry active yeast
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp melted butter
½ cup strawberry jam OR strawberry puree
1 tsp vanilla
4 cups all purpose flour
1½ tsp kosher salt
FOR THE CINNAMON SUGAR COATING: 3 tbsp melted butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
FOR THE STRAWBERRY PUREE: 1½ cup frozen or fresh strawberries
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and brown sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add melted butter, strawberry jam/puree, and vanilla to the yeast mixture.
Gradually mix in flour and salt until a dough forms.
Knead dough for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let dough rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Divide dough into 12 equal portions and shape into heart-shaped pretzels.
Boil pretzels in water for 30 seconds each, then transfer to a baking sheet.
Bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
While warm, brush with melted butter and coat in cinnamon sugar mixture.
